Golly fabric

I am searching for fabric printed with gollywogs (Yes!) not politically correct but that is what the man wants for his wife - I have tried Golly dolly etc - I believe it will be next to impossible to find this theme as actual fabric as the Americans are very sensitive to the concept of Golly anything. I can find patterns and indeed I have some lovely Golly dollies in the shop ready to take to the Artisan Festival at the Mining Exchange, Ballarat on Nov 4, 5 and 6. Any help appreciated

Quits, more quilts......

I have been very lucky to have a number of quilts brought in to show me in the last 3 weeks. I will get the photos up on the blog - Annie from Gordon has completed a lovely quilt in purple Japanese fabrics (being quilted now) and has nearly finished a wall hanging for her brother in teal and brown - I hope to see this on by week's end. A yellow and blue quilt of strips no more than 1/2" wide is proof that quilters have infinite patience.

Sale day 25 June 2011 - 10 till 6 - 30% off everything in the shop!!!!!

Been busy in the garden but more on that later..

Maria Cook with some of her Quilts

Today was the last day of Maria's exhibition "A Pieceful Life". Here is a photo of Maria with two of her quilts. The large one is on its way to a new home. The small one Maria is holding lives at Eureka Patchwork!!

Creswick Quilters Sewing Day

Richard and I attended a really good presentation by Pauline Rogers of Toowoomba last Sunday. It was the machine quilting tutorial - Richard did it and I helped with the morning tea and lunch duties. We prepared samples to quilt with the new (to me anyway) fusible wadding which Pauline recommends - consensus is that it really is fantastic to work with - thanks Pauline for introducing me to it. Pauline then went to the Meredith Community Centre on the Monday to show another group how easy machine quilting can be.

Richard enjoyed himself and did not mind being the only rooster in the henhouse!! Pat who helps me in the shop on Wednesdays tutored me in the finer points of sausage roll making and brought in samples yesterday - devoured by all including two customers  - right place right time!! Not good for the diet but tasty.....

Been busy but.....

I have been busy turning the courtyard garden of the shop into a welcoming space for warmer weather visitors to enjoy (unlessI add a fire pit!!)  There were constraints to work with  - namely trees - an olive, a lemon, a  mandarin, 2 figs, 1 pear and either a peach or a nectarine - it did nothing much this year so the jury is still out on which it is. Much undergrowth ripped out and the cleared space gave roon for a new vision - lots of peonies!!!! 9 Tree peonies already in and hopefully I can fit in at least another dozen or so and then lovely bits and pieces to complement the stars of the garden. More later

Easter Monday update

I attempted to sew yesterday - just a simple square with sashing  x 4 and the first two were ok but when I went to sew the others on they were at least 1/4 inch out - not happy so I unpicked it.I think I will stick to playing with fabric and leave the sewing to others...................

Rain doesn't stop patchworkers looking for that right piece of fabric!

Yesterday we had a visit from Annie who delivered a must have patchwork "Mumsy Bag". Admire Annie's skills in the photo. It is made from Birch Organic cotton which Annie said was a delight to sew. This is in the teal range and there is a yellow range available - watch this space as I am promised another in the alternative colour way............

Blog Police visit

The Blog Police arrived today and admonished me severely for not blogging this week since the very first Blog!  As I am still in Blog 101 class I thought this was a bit nasty but I am attempting to communicate in this new fashion. I went to AQC in Melbourne on Thursday and had an interesting time looking and getting ideas - came home exhausted and poorer.......

Preparing for the annual Easter Sale - this year I am open Easter Saturday and Sunday 10 till 5 and Anzac Day/Easter Monday 1-5 - 20% discount off the already good everyday prices - but fat 1/4 are still at $4 and dirt cheap at that! Speaking of dirt, here is a picture of a peony from my previous life - now I have them all year on fabric - much better.

My very first post

. . . and people said I couldn't sew!
Yes, the image was captured here in my shop. "Eureka Patchwork" has entered the world of Blogging.
This lovely skirt was made by one of my customers, using some of my very special Japanese scrumptious fabric.  Our shop has been open now for 13 months, and for our anniversary, we have reached the amazing total of 4000 bolts of different fabrics.  We have a shopfront in Ballarat, 143 Victoria Street, first in on the way from Melbourne and last stop on the way out.  Our On-Line business is currently under construction and will be up and running soon.
Call in when you're in the area.
